Squarespace SEO URL Slugs

Now that you have read our first two blogs and are up to speed, we can move to our next area of Squarespace SEO, URL Slugs.  A URL Slug is the exact location of your page.  Using a URL slug relevant to your page information is important for your Squarespace SEO.

Squarespace SEO Example with URL Slugs

Lets say your have a marketing company and you have 4 pages.  Photo Gallery, Marketing, Website Design, & Contact Us.  To access your URL Slugs, follow these steps.

  1.  Log into your Squarespace Account
  2.  Click “Pages”
  3.  Select the Page you want to update
  4.  On the Body of the Page, Click “Settings”
  5.  Scroll down Until you See the Field “URL SLUG”

Your page should look like this

You can enter custom words to your URL slugs.  Lets use the website design page as an example for the slug.  So we can write the new slug including the page name and city like this:

/website-design/Fort-Myers

We can also add more words to this URL SLUG

/affordable/website-design/Fort-Myers

Now we would repeat these steps for the other three pages, Photo Gallery, Marketing, and Contact us.  Keep your URL SLUGS as concise as possible and try to avoid words like “of,” “is,” “what,” and “the.”  If your URL SLUGS are too long, Google may perceive them as Spam.  Stay relevant with your content and focus of your page.

In conclusion, URL SLUGS will help index your website.  Go to each one of your webpages and create a unique slug relevant to your page specifics.  Thanks for reading.
